Anyone can try out regardless of what club they play for — or even if they don’t play for any!

Practice will always happen unless we issue a cancellation message. If it rains, practice is still on. It only cancels for thunder/lightning or nonstop heavy rain. Playing in the elements is part of the game.

There are no age groups or teams. Everything is training and it doesn’t matter what age you are. It is based on skill — you’ll train with girls similar to your skill level.

Yes! Anyone can try out even if they are still participating in the indoor season. We are very aware many girls will have both going on at the beginning of beach club season.

Yes! It is becoming one of the fastest-growing sports with many scholarship opportunities to continue playing in college.

It is not required to attend any practice and you are allowed to enter as many or as few tournaments as you prefer.

As a beach player, you need to be able to do all the skills on the court. You become a much more well-rounded player while also becoming a better conditioned athlete. There is no worry about playing time — you’ll be contacting the ball every rally with no substitutions.

No prior beach experience is needed, however it is recommended that you have played volleyball in some capacity before.

You are allowed to choose whoever you want to play with, regardless of age. You can also switch your partner every tournament. We recommend talking to many players you train with to find a good fit.

It is the player and parent’s responsibility to register for tournaments they wish to compete in. The Loudoun Elite staff will help with the learning process and any questions. Different websites are used depending on the tournament.

You play 2v2 to 21 points. The court is smaller and you use a beach-specific volleyball. Setting is called much differently, and there are no subs. You switch sides every 7 total points scored.

Always bring plenty of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and snacks. For tournaments: beach towel, umbrella for shade, chair, change of clothes, and possibly sand socks.

Registration for Loudoun Elite Beach Year-Round Tryouts is completed online through our website. Players only need to register for one scheduled tryout session. A non-refundable tryout registration fee is required during registration.

Our Year-Round Program is open to dedicated athletes who are serious about improving their beach volleyball skills. We welcome athletes with previous beach experience as well as high-level indoor players looking to transition. Coaches evaluate coachability, athleticism, competitive drive, volleyball fundamentals, communication, leadership, positive attitude, work ethic, and team-first mentality.

All Year-Round Program tryouts are held at the Loudoun Elite Beach Home Facility. Detailed location information and check-in instructions will be included in your registration confirmation.

Athletes should wear comfortable athletic clothing suitable for training in the sand — athletic shorts or spandex, a tank top or athletic T-shirt, and an optional hat/visor or sunglasses. Players will train barefoot.

No. Players are evaluated individually throughout the tryout. Athletes do not need to arrive with a partner. Coaches evaluate each athlete’s technical ability, athleticism, decision-making, competitiveness, and ability to work with multiple partners.

Tryouts evaluate the complete athlete through drills focusing on passing, setting, serving, attacking, defense, ball control, beach strategy/movement, and volleyball IQ. The final portion consists of competitive gameplay. Coaches evaluate overall potential, athleticism, and coachability — not just previous beach experience.

Players only need to attend one scheduled tryout. If our coaching staff would like another evaluation, athletes may be invited back for an additional session at no additional cost.

If you have an unavoidable scheduling conflict, please contact our coaching staff as soon as possible. We will do our best to arrange an alternative evaluation whenever possible.

Yes. Roster spots are limited to ensure every athlete receives quality coaching and individualized development. Selection is based on volleyball skill, athletic ability, coachability, competitive mindset, character, communication, team culture, and long-term potential. Not every athlete who attends tryouts will receive an offer.

There is no predetermined roster size. Our coaching staff selects the number of athletes we believe can be effectively developed while maintaining the highest training environment.

Following your tryout, athletes will typically receive an email within 24 hours with one of the following: an invitation to join the Year-Round Program, a callback invitation for an additional evaluation, placement on the waitlist, or notification that a roster position is not available at this time.

Congratulations! Athletes who receive an offer will have a designated acceptance deadline outlined in their offer email. Roster spots are limited and cannot be guaranteed beyond the acceptance deadline. Once your commitment is received, additional information regarding the upcoming season will be sent to your family.

Athletes on the waitlist may receive an invitation if roster positions become available. Movement from the waitlist occurs throughout the tryout process as final roster decisions are made. Families will receive updates as positions become available.
